FROM PREP LACROSSE:

Miles Patchen is the train, and defenders are stuck on the tracks. One of the most physically imposing players at the NAL Summer Invitational, Patchen immediately stood out with his size and strength.

Towering at 6°4 and 215 pounds, the Jamesville-Dewitt lefty is a matchup nightmare who plays with the force of a downhill freight train. Patchen's production backs up the physical tools. He racked up 50 points (29 goals, 21 assists) during the high school season and brought that same scoring touch to the summer circuit.

Whether initiating from up top or the wing, Patchen dodges with power, lowering his shoulder like a bull and making it nearly impossible for a single defender to contain him - even with a slide coming. What really separates Patchen, though, is his shot. His release is reminiscent of Brennan O'Neil's signature style - drawing the stick low behind him and unleashing with a high-velocity. When he gets his hands free, the ball comes off his stick like a missile. Patchen is the kind of high-impact lefty who turns heads every time he steps on the fields-and he's only just getting started.

FROM INSIDE LACROSSE:

Miles Patchen, M, Jamesville DeWitt (N.Y.),

Orange Crush

87 Overall by Inside Lacrosse

Eval Score: 87

The standout player on Orange Crush, a midfielder with the athletic tools to get his own shots in early offense and also set up his teammates. His overhand nearside effort on a sweep and another getting inside for a low finish showed his variety and unwillingness to give up on a dodge.
